Know The Truth – Teach Us To Pray

Your only hope of salvation is through Jesus Christ. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. There is no other way to be saved. Acts 4:12. The Gospel of Christ is God’s power to save you today. Romans 1:16. Have you repented of, or died to your sins and been buried by immersion into the death of Christ? Romans 6:1-11. Eternal life and salvation are “in Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:10. All spiritual blessings are “in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3.

Christians/disciples of Jesus need to be taught how to pray. Luke 11:1. Does God know what we need before we ask Him?Matthew 6:7. Yes! Should we ask God for our food even though He already knows we need food? Yes! Why do we teach our children to ask for food and to say thank you?
Does God accept all types of prayers? “But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” Matthew 6:8. The Holy Spirit said, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3. The point here is that we should consider our purpose and motives when we pray.

The Holy Spirit said, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:4-10. Those who are proud of themselves are not approved and accepted by God. God extends grace to those who are humble. 1 Peter 5:5-6. Christians are to be clothed with humility toward one another and humble themselves under the mighty hand of God.

In Matthew 6:9, Jesus taught His disciples to address their prayers to God the Father. The Holy Spirit taught Christians to pray to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20. We are taught to pray to God the Father through Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:17. We are NEVER taught to pray to Jesus nor the Holy Spirit. If so, where are the passages that instruct us to do so? Jesus Christ is the one and only mediator between man and God. The Holy Spirit stated, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5. See John 14:6; Acts 4:12. Prayers are not to be addressed to Mary, the mother of Jesus, nor to various saints. These are not acceptable to God! Question: Does God hear the prayers of Jews and Muslims who do not pray in the name of Jesus Christ? Christians are to be committed/devoted/dedicated in prayers. Colossians 4:2. Prayers of thankfulness should be a daily activity for the faithful Christian. 1 Thessalonians 5:17. God only hears His.
