No Atheists on Judgment Day

It was not that long ago that atheism was only marginally embraced.  Now it seems that more and more people are adopting the view that God is not real.  Seemingly educated individuals have forsaken logic and evidence to embrace man’s theories.  Instead of accepting the truth that God exists, some have become militant-like in their efforts to undermine what the Bible teaches.

It is not the fault of God that man has turned to atheism.  God has given an abundance of evidence to support the faith of those that believe.  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Heb. 11:1).  Consider that, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork” (Psm. 19:1).  We do not have to see God to know that He exists.  Paul indicated, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” (2 Cor. 5:7).

What does the Word of God say about those that refuse to believe in God?  “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good” (Psm. 14:1).  Also, the Psalmist wrote, “The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God:  God is not in all his thoughts” (Psm. 10:4).

These types of individuals are similar to the Gentile people of old.  If you did not know that Paul was writing about Gentiles in the past, then you might believe that the following account was describing many people today:  “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them.  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.  Amen.  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:  for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:  Who, knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Rom. 1:18-32).

With all of that being said, there will come a time when atheism will fall.  On the Day of Judgment, there will be no more atheists.  “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:10-11).  The sad thing is that for most, it will be too late.

Let us hear the Word of God, so that faith will develop in our hearts (Rom. 10:17).  Let us be certain that God exists, and teach as many others as we can.  It really is a matter of spiritual life or death.  “But without faith, it is impossible to please him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Heb. 11:6).
